Sun halo

We had a rare phenominon here today...at least I think it's pretty rare. We had a sun halo- which preceeds a cold front or precipitation. I took this photo at approximately 1 pm. Moon halos occur as well, although I never noticed one before either.

The halo, is formed because of cirrus clouds that contain ice crystals. Cirrus clouds are formed high in the Earth's atmosphere where the temperature is usually well below freezing. OK, I stole that part from some weather-techy website. Anyway...I found this old Dutch Proverb:

A ring around the moon

May pass away soon,

But a ring around the sun

Gives water in the tun.

I really liked the combination of colors from an earlier layout that I had to make it as a desktop.

Inspiration struck today...
Click on each image to see detail better...this doesn't do justice.

This LO took alot of time and layers...the background is repeated 4 times. Some details painted on. This remains my favorite to date.

Dinner tonight

For tonights dinner I made this wonderful fish recipe I made up a few years ago. It is good on just about any type of fish and it was very simple to make.

Crab Topped Fish
1 egg
1 Tbsp honey
dash salt
1/2 sleeve of Ritz crackers, finely crushed
up to 1 lb fresh or thawed fish filets (I like tilapia)
Mix egg and honey. In baggie mix crushed crackers and salt. Set aside 1/2 cup crackers for topping. Dip fish in egg mixture, then coat with cracker mix (shake in bag)
Place in baking dish sprayed with Pam.
Topping
1 can flaked crab, drained and cleaned
1/2 cup mayonaise
1 Tbsp lemon juice
Dash crushed red pepper
2 Tbsp capers
reserved crushed crackers
Mix well and spread over fish in glass dish.
Bake 350º for 10 minutes, then at 450º for 10-12 minutes or until fish flakes. Watch closely.

New features added...

I have added a couple features recently to this blog. Now, thats a big deal for me. You have to know I am more of a "right-brainer" and technical stuff can throw me...although I can get by in that respect as well. That's why I am determined to learn as much of the technical side as I can. Anyway, I added a slideshow and a music playlist near the bottom. The playlist is a "chicks delight" but there are some interesting picks on there. I sometimes just like to launch a page in the background and click play. Hope you enjoy.

I hope everyone had a terrific weekend. I spent most of mine backing up files, and cleaning up my computer. I had a feeling I needed to do it very soon anyway. I am so glad I did. It is chugging along quite nicely again. Most of what I did came from the advice from this webpage:

Tiny Princess

Here's a layout featuring our resident sweetie-pie. She joined the 'big girls' yesterday for the dress up party. This layout was great fun.

Before and after

I almost don't recognize my daughter! Nat got about 8 inches cut off her hair. The following day, she was in a DIVA-ish mood and with her friend, put on all my makeup and tried on jewelry/clothes. They had a lot of fun and it kept them busy all day.
